Weather Update

Members of the Rutgers Health Community:

The National Weather Service has issued a major winter storm warning for the State of New Jersey this weekend through early Monday afternoon, and Governor Mikie Sherrill has declared a State of Emergency effective at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026.

This storm has the potential to create dangerous conditions. We are doing everything possible to ensure the safety and well-being of our campus community.

While the university remains open, from Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26, classes at Rutgers Health will be online in either synchronous or asynchronous mode. Instructors should contact their students with updates. Clinical operations remain open and clinical faculty and staff should follow the guidance from their respective hospital and practice leadership.

In addition:

• All on-campus events are cancelled.
• Student health services will be online.
• University Libraries’ buildings will be closed on Sunday and Monday. Instruction and reference services will pivot to fully remote to support our university community without disruption. Please check the Rutgers University Libraries website for more information.
• Check scarletknights.com for possible changes to athletics schedules.

I want to encourage everyone to take this situation seriously, keep an eye out for further updates, continue to check rutgers.edu/status and rutgershealth.org/operating-status, and take all recommended actions to ensure your safety during hazardous winter conditions.
